Katherine's career encompasses more than a decade of public health and mental health support services.

Katherine was born and raised in Washington, D.C., with fourteen years of private school education, nine at an all-girls school National Cathedral School. Katherine is keenly aware of the academic, social, and emotional components that an adolescent and family experience during the college search, application, acceptance and transition to higher education.

 
 

Katherine attended Davidson College as a student athlete. Balancing academic, athletic, social and emotional needs away from parents and close childhood friends is an expected transition, and even in the best of circumstances, is stressful. She draws from professional and personal experiences with each client.

After a short career in New York, Katherine received her Master's in Public Health at the University of Illinois in Chicago. She took a position with a residential women and girl's eating disorder treatment facility in Miami. An organic transition into aftercare and discharge planning, leadership at the facility recognized Katherine's base knowledge about different colleges and universities paired with the effective communication skills and delivery when working with families and medical providers alike.

This position allowed Katherine to further expand her network, knowledge, and ever changing landscape of college campuses to hone her interest and skills in helping clients and families. She led aftercare services, transitioning clients and families back to home and school environments after treatment at a high level. Katherine possesses a wide professional referral base across the country and at university and college settings alike.

Katherine most recently worked in Chicago at an outpatient mental health group practice with a focus on youth and adult athletes and elite performers (dancers, musicians), Ascend Consultation in Healthcare (Ascend CHC). There she worked with families, coaches, universities, and other mental health professionals to work on the recruiting, admission, and transition to college sport. While at Ascend CHC, Katherine co-authored Mental Health Skills Training Workbook, Preparing for Excellence in Sport with her colleagues.

Katherine lives with her husband, three young sons, and 15 year old Springer Spaniel in the Chicago suburbs.

Katherine focuses on understanding the wants and needs of the student while also keeping parents involved, informed, and part of the process. She addresses each concern with transparency and directness.
